2768413The next few weeks are packed with seasonal activities for Huntsville Seniors who are part of our Regency senior living community. Residents are excited to see the return of decorations, music and exchanging of gifts.

We’re looking forward to seeing the families of residents as you carry them to extended family gatherings and/or spend time here visiting. We know that time is the greatest gift of all when it comes to loved ones.

Experiences can actually make better presents than gifts we can hold in our hands. The promise of spending a day with grandchildren at the Huntsville Botanical Garden or the U.S. Space and Rocket Center creates memories that last a lifetime.

Any gift is great when it is accompanied by time spent with the most important people in our lives.

Our own Regency family has a full schedule planned…

We’re looking forward to the Galaxy of Lights Bus Tour at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens on Dec. 2nd. Residents will also take a bus trip to see the fantastic Christmas decorations at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville on Dec. 4th.

On Dec. 6th at 9 am, the West Mastin Lake Baptist Church will host our annual Christmas Shoppe. For over 10 years, members of the church have brought toiletries, clothing, activity books, and various other needed items to our residents. The church members encourage the residents to shop and select any item they would like. The same day, Delta Sigma Theta will host a crafts and caroling day in the sunroom at 10 am. At 2 pm, the Valley Conservatory will perform for all residents, bringing several viola, violin and cello players.

The following day, DeAndre King, a student at Oakwood College, will perform for Assisted Living and Memory Care residents at 5:15 pm.

On Dec. 14th, we’ll enjoy the Festival of Wreaths, looking at the grapevine wreaths decorated for apartment doors. On Dec. 15th, Assisted Living residents will take a 5:30 pm bus ride through the Huntsville Botanical Gardens’ annual Galaxy of Lights. On Dec. 16th & 17th, Memory Care residents will take the tour at 5:30 pm each night. On Dec. 18th, residents will enjoy First Baptist Church of Huntsville’s Living Christmas Tree, a tradition for nearly 30 years. The finale is a magnificent performance of Handel’s “Messiah”.

On Dec. 19th at 3 pm, Santa Claus will arrive early for the residents of Regency. The Salvation Army Angel Tree will visit us and distribute gifts to all of our residents. On Dec. 20th, the Rocket City Chorus, a barbershop group comprised of 35-40 men, will sing old Christmas songs. They’ve performed at Regency for more than a decade.

It all leads up to the 25th when we’ll celebrate the big day with our thoughts on peace and joy on Earth.
